Polio vaccination campaign to be postponed to 17 January, Ministry of Health stated the reason

New Delhi:  The central government has taken a big decision amid Corona vaccination in the country. The pulse polio vaccination campaign has been postponed starting this month. Under this, polio drops are given to children in the age group of 0-5 years. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated that due to unforeseen activities, it has been decided to postpone the polio national immunization day starting from 17 January 2021 until further notice.

The Union Health Ministry, through a letter on 9 January, informed all states and Union Territories about the decision to postpone the national polio campaign. Earlier, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Harsh Vardhan had said on 8 January that polio vaccination would be done on 17 January.

Due to unforeseen activities, it is decided to postpone the scheduled Polio NID (national immunization day) round from 17th January 2021 till further notice: Ministry of Health & Family

According to the information, Corona vaccination is going to start in the country from January 16. It is believed that this decision has been taken in view of the severity of corona virus. Polio medicine is given to millions of children every year in India. It has been postponed for some time due to corona vaccination. Let us tell you that this is the first time in the last 25 years that the polio campaign has been pushed forward.

Under the vaccination campaign, which is being started on a large scale in the country, the first line line workers will be given the corona vaccine. After this, the corona vaccine will be brought to the sweepers, policemen, security personnel, security forces personnel. After this, people above 50 years of age and those who are more susceptible to infection will get vaccinated in the second phase.

Recently, PM Modi had discussed with the Chief Ministers about the campaign to be started against the corona virus. During this time, he had said that the Corona vaccination campaign in India will be the largest campaign in the world, but other vaccination work will continue along with it.
